Researchers often have a strong predisposition to believe that, you know, their theory may predict tat's that there is actually an effect there. And when we're motivated to get particular answers, when you've got lots of different ways to analyze things, lots of different tools that you can put in to test things, you can find creative results. This is a big part of why we had the raplication crisis, because it's not individual researches. There are cases of fraud where people did disoer falsified data, but that's more rare than people engaging in motivated analytical choices and then getting the results to a level that they're ready to publish in a paper.
