Caesar Was in Peril of Losing His Life in an Egyptian Civil War

Caesar had been on the precipice of winning a brutal roman civil war, and now he found himself in peril of losing his life in an egyptian civil war. Pompey had at one time been caesar's friend and political ally, so the feelings of grief may have been very real. But perhaps more importantly, the egyptians had denied caesar the public relations coup that would have come with pardoning his old rival and welcoming him in to the new regime. Caesar decided that he was not going to leave egypt until he had set their house in order.
