Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson is famous for sending Washington DC's corrupt, albeit popular mayor Marion Berry to jail in 1991 on cocaine charges. In December 1997, Jackson issues an injunction that requires Microsoft to allow computer manufacturers to offer Windows without Internet Explorer included. This infuriates Bill Gates, who shares his feelings with his trusted lieutenant, Steve Ballmer. The case winds its way through the courts until it lands before the silver-haired Judge Jackson.
