The New Testament and the New Testament
Marcion of sinope rejected all jewish law and scripture as invalid or dangerous. He tried to create his own canon, or collection of authoritative texts. His opponents had to respond with their own canon which would sit alongside the hebrew bible. So this is the origin of what we now think of as the new testament.
