Sailing Isn't a Simple Crossing

Sailing isn't something you can do at any time of the year. And even if the weather did turn out to be good on one particular day for this voyage, that wouldn't be enough. Anything less would result in this fleet being blown all over creation. So they had to have consistent winds. If they were going to make that crossing, it meant they would have to wait until the wind shifted in late summer to autumn.
