Early Stage of Detection of the Oscillation
Early detection is critical because otherwise yeah you could be out of control or out of your limits for a while much longer than you ever want to be. One example I have seen one distillation column started to oscillate because of the pressure controller and this pressure controller behave like we can see from the picture. After one hour five distillation columns in series started to occur, nobody didn't know what was causing it so they needed to shut down complete five distillation Columns after two days. Trial and error tuning usually presented by old-fashioned rules which are called single nickel and coon coon tuning rules. Many times these rules are very aggressive and it will give you very aggressive tuning
