The Tension Between Journalists and the Feds in the Investigation of the Kidnapping
It does not seem to be a circumstance where he was motivated to share this information widely. He supposedly said don't share this, which is dumb and unbelievably naive that you would say that to a group of like literally 15 year olds. We don't know much about his motives. It's not clear that that's the case. I suspect they were asking them for comment. But then the second question becomes whether or not journalists have some obligation to protect the identity. No, it's not a source of someone who is publishing this kind of material.
