Professor Mary Sorati is a professor of history and international relations at the University of Southern California. Her article examines some of the reasons for China's crackdown on the protest in Tiananmen Square, as well as U.S. responses to those events. Starting in January 2013, Professor Sorati will be here at Harvard as a visiting professor in both the history and the government departments.
