The History of the Chinese Exclusion Act

The Chinese Exclusion Act was the first major federal immigration restriction that effectively shut the borders for the very first time against any particular nationality. It halted legal immigration into this country and blocked a pathway towards our citizenship for over 60 years. Some of it is inspiring in terms of your ancestors who we get to meet and spend time with but some extremely heartbreaking and difficult pieces of history to read about.
