The concept that we use it in the English speaking world today comes from a play called The Fair Penitent from 17, well, 1632. That person probably stole it from Don Quixote. But they made Lothario more of a libertine. He's a less likable character and his seducing is not as driven by stupid, let me test my wife nonsense. It's more of a seducing. I'm a friend. Yeah, but that's where it comes from.
