After the war was over, 34 japanese soldiers were tried for war crimes. They were all hanged and buried in unmarked graves in guam. The other men on the island that witnessed these atrocities and didn't do anything about it or participated,. but in some sort of secondary way, they were also found guilty and sent to jail.
