The doctrine of separate spheres seems kind of obvious on its surface, but it's a bit of an sidious concept. It builds off this idea that life can be cleaved into into a public world and a private world. The haven strategy was certainly typical if the united states from the 19 twenties on. And most obviously this manifest as the suburban house with a white picket fence. Now, the haven was usually a haven for a male worker. But i mean, people come together in an industrial context and in an office,. People do work together all the time in the name of capital. So why can't we work together in the domestic sphere? Because work is different from life, from
