PayPal found success on an auction website that was pretty young back then. eBay hadn't figured out its payment system. PayPal became a perfect fix for that payment system. But the problem is PayPal isn't owned by eBay. The executives don't really like each other. There's a lot of bad blood and there're a lot of egos involved in this. It's not just math, it's much more complicated than that.
