The Early Development of Agriculture in Greece
The beginnings of agriculture can be seen around the French Ethe cave, and in the Thessaly plains. Trade is also seen to have taken place here, with obsidian which was originated on the island of Milos. Also in this period are some burials which indicate care for the dead, and is suggestive of a religious system. From the period 7000 BC onwards, there appears to be a development all over Greece in agriculture, livestock domestication, settlements and social structures. These developments can be seen throughout Macedonia, Thessaly and Biosha. It would appear that this boom in development benefited from the contact with other peoples from other regions, such as travellers from the Near East.
