Is Violence Related to Poverty?
Violence is connected to poverty, but one of the preconditions for getting rich of poverty is the elimination of violence. You cannot get rich when people are wielding force against one another in large quantities. The only way Chicago is going to make the south side of Chicago safe is by massively increasing police presence and by consciously, aggressively going after gangs. If you want to reduce crime in Mexico, it has to be a two-prong strategy. One, legalize the drugs. Two, put police out in the streets and aggressively, aggressively go after the gangs.
