Shakespeare's Comedy Is Tragedy All the Way Up to the End

Shakespeare's masterful subversion of the tragic genre is due to him basing his play on familiar comic plots. To really get the full effect, this idea of comedy being tragedy until the end and vice versa, I highly recommend that one deep read half a dozen tragic masterpieces in a row then immerse themselves in the comedies.
