Irinaeus's Gnosticism
Irenaeus was a man of the bible and used philosophical tradition in big way. He saw gnostic vision as deeply unbiblical. Gnosticism is an extreme pre s in favor of the spiritual over the material. There aren't any two gods, there's only one true god - old testament or new Testament. And we have come to terms with this fallen God who has made grubby world of matter. The irineus at ninanal that's repugnant to the old stament perspective.
