Many of the epithelia right on the surface of protective areas. And so they don't need a dedicated blood supply. So that's through the shape of them. And through how many layers they have. Now, I think this is a nice transition for us. Again, mind the pun. Transitional epithelia. Yeah, you'll find that later on.

One of the four tissue types of the body, epithelia lines and protects our organs from the external and internal environment. In this episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike explain how the different shape and layers of epithelia tell you what function it performs (form = functions) and highlight examples in the body where you can find each type. They also explore cancer, metaplasia, dysplasia, and Dr Matt's mums skin cancer diagnosis and surgery.
