Mary Magdalene and the Passion of the Christ

A lot of this goes back to an Easter homily by Pope Gregory, the great in 591. And he was comparing all these women in, you know, these different instances of women being encountered with Jesus and they got conflated into one where they're like Mary Magdalene, she's a prostitute.
