The Importance of Clarity in Mao's Work
I think the clarity that is so pronounced in Mao's work comes in large part from the fact that he is not sitting in an armchair philosophizing abstractly. This is a post-revolutionary situation where the Chinese communists have won and now they are entering the period of socialist construction with Mao wrestling with all of the issues that the Communist Party has to deal with going forward. So this is really a practical as I said text about the necessities of post-Revolutionary issues and contradictions and how best to navigate them.
