What Are Your Main Findings for Your Dissertation?
I spent a lot of time looking through newspapers and other periodicals, especially the periodicals produced by the pranakan Chinese themselves. I thought that there were particularly rich trove of information that hasn't really been examined in the full detail that they should be. It's about finding the stuff that's missing in the archives, but also reading the archives in a way that tell you more about marginalized groups like the Pranakan who do feature sometimes,. But are also kind of conspicuous by their absence in some places.
