The Shipwreck and the Rescue Mission

This episode is about the Dutch East India Company or in Dutch, the Verinnigda Ostendice Company. The VOC was dominating trade in the East Indies during the 17th and 18th centuries. One of the VOC's ships left Tessel Holland on its maiden voyage to Batavia in October of 1628. Today's episode is going to be about the first part of the voyage, the shipwreck, and the rescue mission that happened afterward. And then our next episode will be about what happened to the survivors while their bosses were away trying to get help.
