The Maccabees and Reben

The Maccabees and Reben continues for about 20 years. Simon Thassie overcomes the various Seleucid armies. And establishes a fairly decent state. The previous line of high priest? Where did they go? Well, I'm sure they just left willingly. There was a high priest called Menelaus whose reign seems terminated at the very beginning of a revolt. So he just seems to disappear. That's I think most of what we know is from First and SecondMaccabees.
