The Budget Is Not Working for the Kids at the Bottom
I would never choose to send my kids back to any kind of traditional school after being on the inside as a teacher and a parent. I think just in general the entire system is set up to make the majority of kids feel pretty bad about themselves for one thing or the other. By age 11 or 12 kids really internalize those things based off of things that are quite arbitrary whether or not you read this passage fast enoughwhether or not they can write a sentence with a period at the end. Even if you're excelling at academics there's something else to make you feel bad about yourself because we're constantly comparing kids instead of celebrating what they are interested in or are enjoying participating in.
