The Hypothalamus
The hypothalamus is a small region of the brain which is located below the thalamus. It produces hormones that control other endocrine glands, particularly the pituitary gland. Each nuclei contains cells that are specialized for the production of particular hormones. The hypothalamus is also part of a brain circuitry or series of structures called the limbic system.
