Introduction

When thinking about Naphrodic syndrome, we can think of the glomerulus like a coffee filter. Each kidney contains approximately 1 million glomeruli that filter a massive amount of blood each day. Pathology within these three layers may lead to breakdown of its normal filtration function. This leads to losses of large amounts of serum proteins - sometimes upwards of 10 grams per day. There are two theories as to why patients with NaphrodIC syndrome develop edema.
