It takes between seven drops and a teaspoon of arsenic to kill a human. There's no way, even if the copper cookwere had arsenic in the alloy, that enough of the arsenic would get into your food to kill anybody,. much less poison hundreds. Also, some thpeople who got sick said they hadn't eaten or drunk anything in the hotel during their stay, and took their meals elsewhere. It certainly wouldn't explain why it happened in two waves that coincided with president buchanan's visits. Could the poisoning have been accidental in another way? One proposal from the time was that it originated in the kitch.
