The Industrial Revolution and the Emergence of Mass Society

What we think of as the Industrial Revolution is really an early to mid-Victorian phenomenon. Mass society was, as it were, a kind of offshoot of industrialism. Gustav Le Bon writing in 1895, um, wrote the first book really on, on crowds as a kind of phenomenon. So, so society begins to be conscious of itself.
