The victorian state government issued a 100 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of carman chan's kidnapper. Police commenced an extensive door knock around the area where carmon was abducted. More than 200 police knocked on over three thousand doors, one of the most widespread police door knocks ever conducted in victoria. Widespread public appeals for information had resulted in over three thousand phone calls made to the police hot line. Detectives had hoped that mister cruel would release carmon before the end of te school holidays.
