The Importance of Empathy in Mental Illnesses

"I was kind of like herrumphing at the pain. I found myself saying, Jesus Christ," he said about his character's mental illness. "That's why likable is the wrong term. He's not likable. He's almost irritating." But you still root for him and you still want him to do better,. For all the reasons, you know what I mean? Like there's empathy there, but it's not something that you would want to actually like be the one to step in.
