Rules for the direction of the mind is the earliest thing he wrote, so to speak. It was founding how we understand math with pointing out towards saying that we can understand everything else in the world by extension. I don't recall if he specifically points to God and how knowledge of God grounds every other bit of knowledge. That part is definitely in the method, but it's not in this.
