Game Theory and the Game Theory of Gameplay

I always think about this conversation I had with a friend of mine who plays games is a developer. We were having a conversation about Hugo's house of horrors favorite favorite game way back an adventure game. In that game there's a puzzle that you have to solve in order to get through the game where there's a dog and if you go on to the screen, the dog will just come and attack you. And so my friend told me the story about like as a kid being so excited about this because you could just rack up the points forever.
