The Negative Effects of Negative Attributions
I think the most harmful form of it is where you look at someone's credentials. If they have all the wrong characteristics, then you're sort of justified in making the worst possible attributions to whatever they said. And so there's an asymmetry in the- There's which means that those other people have to be extremely careful how they talk. But we good people can sort of be sloppy and joking and talking directly because we can be assumed to be having a good intention. I don't think that's the worst part, but- It's a pretty bad part.
