The History of Saccotra

Saccotra was a Christian island in Yemen. Marco Polo wrote about it in the 13th century that there were Christians there. In the 17th century, Padre Vincenzo visited Saccotra and found they'd moved to other beliefs. Because they were isolated from the rest of the world, they kind of had this new version of Christianity. A lot of them were called Maria. They're all Muslims now. Have you met a Maria? I have not met a Maria because weirdly there's no Christians left on the island.
