During the strike in 2007-2008, a lot of shows were starting to be shown online. At that time, studios were saying that that was promotional. It wasn't really where the money was being made. But yeah, 2007-2008 was really about the DVD and about this idea of you're not just showing it on TV again, but now it's owned by somebody who can watch it million times.
