The Gospel of Thomas says yes he taught secretly and these are some of the things he said ordinarily a tradition in Jewish tradition from whichJesus comes is that you don't write down secret traditions because they can be easily misunderstood. But somebody wrote them down and I suspect that we have among these so called secret Gospels secret teachings who were not supposed to be written.
