India is trying to beam TV channels directly onto mobile phones. It's like having a satellite TV on your phone and the government is calling it D2M or direct to mobile. There are enormous benefits here outside of the obvious use case that we listed earlier. For instance, the government could use the broadcast channel to relay important messages during times of distress. If broadcasters can serve their content like they do on TV, then it could help them reach even more people. This could also reduce the load on telecom network operators,.
