There's an unsettling idea of a secret organization fueling the ideals of american democracy. Part of it has to do with this close relation to the formation of the united states, and the perceived notion of being an invisible hand. Even back then, there was this notion oflike, all this good will, all these good things that they are doing as they ulterior motive. In the late 18 thirties, it actually culminated in a political party called the anti masonic party.
