The magician is a very popular card because the magician represents the first steps of knowledge. He does not necessarily have wisdom but does have knowledge. Sometimes he can be a trickster figure especially in a reversed position. Especially if he's working with the various elements without wisdom and he might have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.
