The Cost of Medical Bad Debt
In the U.S., if I go have a toning the procedure, so I have my knee replaced, it's going to be $12,000 for Medicare and as much as $60,000 with United Health based on their contract. So what happens is if I have a balanced bill and I don't pay it, it's medical bad debt. And it's usually 10 to 20 times more than what they would accept, you know, for pennies.
