The Gallic Army

The Austrian army was a patchwork of nationalities and languages. The Holy Roman Empire was essentially too big for its britches. There is at least one other army who seems to have fallen in much the same way. In 279 BC, the Gallic leader Brennis led an army into the Greek mainland. But upon reaching the city, there was a great and frosty storm that made their advance impossible. They were routed by Greek forces in the morning and retreated. That night, after a forced march back north, there was some confusion and a panic fell over Brennis' army.
