The Importance of Being on the Road
I find it easier when I'm on the road and performing. If I want to address an issue, I localize it to myself. My uncle owns guns. And then you tie that into a bigger conversation about mental health. But I start with the me, whereas with the daily show, I can start with the world. I can show a mirror to the world. In red parts of the country, people don't want to hear about that. So more often than not, when you're at a comedy club and in a red state, it's an escapist's experience for the average comedy club goer. That's unifying. It brings everybody together.
