How Does the Political Mechanism Take Effect?
The political mechanism is a little bit less intuitive, largely because the examples that we're looking at to day are not regimes that we think of as being enormously sensitive to public pressure. The kaiser's germany was not one in which he woke up every morning wondering how his approval ratings were doing. If i don't have the stuff i need to build the ons, i've got to use different weapons or different stuff. But it's not necessarily an accurate reflection of how things are going in an autocratic regime.
