Patriarchy has persisted for at least ten millennia. The economic rewards of female labor market participation were seldom sufficiently high to compensate for the loss of honor. Women remained close to the home, while educated men gained prestiges bureaucrats, merchants and religious leaders. After ten thousand years of patriarchy, change was finally fot this process was fastest and most extensive in the 20th century. But fraternal capital still perpetuates men's dominance.
