The Notational Notes of Stanley's Poem

Roxanne Jones: I thought since we ended with the title of Stanley's poem, maybe we could start with your title. You know, like Stanley's title, I hope this one's doing several things. It is notational. My poems begin. We all do. And it happens that there are six sections in this poem, so six notes. But really dominant in the poem to me is the sound of those birds,. The songs that the birds sing and the different notes that say a wren or a dove makes or a gun. So I was thinking about that too, sort of musical notes and the notational and the sectional as I was trying to figure out the title
