Is There a Separation Between Private and Public?
In ancient philosophical tradition, usually the idea of the separation between private and public doe not exist. So individuals cultivation obviously requires a lot of effort. Chan practitioners perhaps spend a more entire life, or several lives, i to practise themselves. But even in thet tradition, in theory, the idea is that one cultivates oneself so that one can become a really a good person.
