German jews were deeply attached to the idea of germany until germany told them, no, you're not in the club. The irish moved a generation after thee, the famine generation. They've started developing societies, organizing labor unions and getting into temperance. And soadbend, from the german emigrants point, they might have been frustrated. Might have not liked being lumped in with the irish.
