Sally Kohn: My mom was diagnosed with depression early on in her Alzheimer's course. She says she had symptoms that one would associate with depression prior to the more significant memory loss. Her family went from doctor's office to doctor's office looking for answers, but they couldn't find them at New York City-based hospitals. Ultimately, it was at the Cleveland Clinic where she was diagnosed as having a neurodegenerative Parkinson's plus condition. The diagnosis wasn't until a few years later that she was finally diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.
