Slow Deep Breathing
Scientists have found about six breaths a minute, that's six in and six out, is the most effective. This matches the rate achieved by many meditation and religious breathing practices from the Rosary Prayer to meditation mantras. What can also help is to do more belly breathing but one hand on your chest and the other on your tummy just below the rib cage. As you breathe in you should feel that hand rise as your belly expands. So just sink in, calmly notice the sensations of the breath and let everything else fall away.
