I'm curious about what these narratives tell us about the relationship between humans and our creations or maybe more generally between technological advance and social change. What I found very interesting in these novels is that indeed the creatures in them, the humanoids do break through the bonds that are imposed by their human creators. But this is really much more benign than in some of your more dystopian fiction fiction where the computer decides that humans are a threat to themselves and kills them all. They are not Skynet.
